CHRISTOPHER VINZ has illustrated in colour four books for the ABPress: The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim, Mary Webb’s Gone to Earth, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald [to appear in January 2021], and E. F. Benson’s Mapp and Lucia.

He studied sculpture at the Sir John Class School of Art, London, where he specialised in bronze casting. He now has a studio in Prague where he is a member of the Czech Association of Artist Medal Makers. His work has been exhibited in London at the Royal Academy Summer exhibitions, with the Friends of the Victoria and Albert Museum, Sally Hunter Fine Art; in Prague at the National Museum, in Plezň at the Západočeská Galerie, in Brno at the Špilberk, in a number of other Czech galleries, and in Vienna at the National Bank Museum. He began his theatre career working with costumes for Kent Opera, directed by Roger Norrington, and for regional theatres and the BBC. As a scenic artist he was involved with many productions for major London theatres, including the English National Opera, Covent Garden and the Glyndebourne Festival. He was particularly pleased of his association with the well known Players’ Theatre annual Victorian Christmas “pantomimes”. As a costume designer he participated in operas of Collegium Marianum and of Collegium 1704 for the baroque theatre in Český Krumlov, and with the Andrea Miltner Dance Company.
